What Makes Our Hearts Sing? Sabbatical Reflections

Rev. Susan Manker-Seale

Life is different when primary church relationships have been put on hold.  I missed you and some of you have already told me that you missed me.  It was good to be apart for a while, especially when we all had goals to focus on.  It will be very good to be back together again.  Let's start to reconnect by sharing a little of what we learned in this time apart, about what inspires us, as well as our hopes for the years ahead.  Betty Meikle is Worship Associate.  Joel Schwindt will direct the Choir.  Please join us after the service for the CONGREGATIONAL MEETING!

Creating a Positive Outlook:  Faith, Hope and Love
Rev. Susan Manker-Seale

As much as I'm into refining a theology for the future, the three values which the Jews and early Christians upheld as central to living a good life two thousand years ago are still essential today.  In the face of continuing war, collapsing mortgage loans, loss of jobs, and a growing recession, what can help us through the darkest nights is what sustains human hearts everywhere and always.  This will be a Unitarian Universalist look at why and how to foster faith, hope and love in our lives, including our religious community.  We'll add joy to that mix, and Curtiss will tell you the story of the kite man of Darfur.  Paula Trahan is Worship Associate.

What Is the Question?
Skeptics' Forum

Several members of the Skeptics' Forum will present and discuss questions that are challenging to them. What is a skeptic? Why is there evil in the world? Or is there evil in the world? Is there an inherent meaning and purpose to life, or is life just another property of carbon compounds? Is there a place for a liberal congregation in this area? Is there room in Unitarian Universalism for skeptics? Is there room in skepticism for Unitarian Universalism?
